Shannon Murphy leads Blue Nature Alliance’s engagements in Canada and is the Senior Seascape Manager at Conservation International (CI). She is a conservation leader, working on large-scale marine management solutions that benefit both people and nature. She manages grants and partnerships in across Canada and provides expertise and insights to advance the Blue Nature Alliance’s global portfolio. Shannon also leads CI’s Seascapes program which focuses on how we balance the protection of nature and sustainable production of our coasts and oceans. Shannon received her master’s degree from Columbia University, where her thesis research focused on manta ray population dynamics and the development and maintenance of community-based marine protected areas in Papua New Guinea and Fiji, highlighting the need for long-term support and stakeholder collaboration. When not working, Shannon enjoys scuba diving, running, and hiking with her dog.
